I've noticed most people automatically go to NewEgg.com or Frys if they need anything now. Back in the day I always checked Pricewatch.com so I was wondering is that still a good website for finding low prices?

Usually nothing is cheaper than Newegg enough to be worth the hassle.

Dell for storage drives, [some] monitors.
Superbiiz for random daily specials.
Zipzoomfly.
Newegg... not always the cheapest option.

I like pricewatch for stuff that is obsolete or old. I needed a new 939 board for a family members system and wasn't about to pay the $60+ everyone wanted like the shit was gold. Found one from an e-tailer for $25 shipped.
I usually buy from the egg if I can get free shipping. I'm so close to Whittier my stuff gets here next day. but the tax kills most deals they have. only buy TD ZZF if they have a better price and i don't need/want it right away.

Do not buy from ZZF. Terrible company. Stick to Newegg even if you have to pay a couple of more bucks.

I still check PW, pricegrabber and google shopping. I wouldn't order from just any company with a low price, but i'm a lot more flexible than the newegg bots. I have no problems with ZZF or most other major etailer sites.
I do wind up buying most of my hardware from Fry's though. Fry's sales often have by far the cheapest prices available anywhere, especially for memory, processors, PSUs, cases and (clearance) motherboards.

I always check buy.com for prices on PSUs and computer cases; they seem to have more free shipping deals, and that counts for a lot on those two particular items.

I was also a diehard pricewatch shopper back in the day, at least until Newegg came around. Like several other posters said, I buy from the Egg if they have free shipping, because they're reliable and have a good reputation. Granted, they may not always have the best price, but no tax (for me) and free shipping adds up fast and can actually work out to be the same or sometimes cheaper than other stores. As far as other outlets, if the Egg doesn' t have what I need, I've purchased from ZZF, Buy.com, and Tigerdirect, all without issue.

i have bought from zipzoomfly and newegg. I used to use pricegrabber and I have bought a few parts from other companies but that was a few years ago. nothing wrong with zipzoomfly.

I've purchased things from NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, Microcenter, Buy.com, and Amazon within the past few weeks and I've had no trouble with everything that I've bought.
However, I've stopped using Pricewatch a long time ago. My reason was because many of the "deals" that I found there weren't accurate, let alone true deals. I've been using Google Product Search as my primary means to compare prices, and I've found several deals there that I wouldn't have found otherwise.

I've bought stuff from ZZF numerous times, and never had any problems.
Pricewatch/pricegrabber are pretty useless imo. Check the Hot Deals forum / SD for the best prices.

I was wondering how many people are using pricewatch. I used it a lot, years ago. Always guaranteed to lower the overall cost of your new build. But, it has lost a lot of its usefulness because venders no longer support it like they once did. I still find the occasional oem gem.
