How Manchester United should line up vs Wolves in Premier League fixture (2025)

Manchester United are still coming down from the high of beating Lyon on Thursday.

United were 4-2 down in extra time but they completed one of the most special comebacks in the club's history to seal a 5-4 victory against the French club.

Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire scored the goals in the second half of extra-time, ensuring United's season is still alive with the hope of lifting the Europa League.

Speaking after the special Lyon victory, Ruben Amorim said: "We have to be really focused on Europa League and take risks sometimes with kids in the Premier League."

Amorim is expected to rotate and here's how writers think United should start...

It is in United's interests to give their Europa League regulars a breather today and then give them playing time next week at Bournemouth so they are not undercooked for the first leg against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday week.

Rotating goalkeepers does no one any good and Andre Onana played well in midweek. If Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelof are available, they are logical starters. Luke Shaw needs to start for his club, even if he does not necessarily finish the match.

Manuel Ugarte and Rasmus Hojlund should start as they came off in the second half. Jaydan Kamason was bright during the FA Youth Cup run and is the obvious option to give Diogo Dalot a much-needed breather. Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount would offer seniority in attack and they need a start.

Onana needs to build some confidence ahead of the Europa League semi-final, so there's no point in rotating goalkeepers. Leny Yoro is 19 and should be fine playing twice in four days.

Kamason has been brilliant for the Under-18s this season and has the required qualities to play at right wing-back.

Mainoo was played up front against Lyon on Thursday, but I still believe he can be a success in the pivot, which means I'd give him the opportunity to start alongside Ugarte this afternoon.

Mount deserves to make his first start since his return from injury and should play in the No.10 role.
